Kathmandu: The people have got free access to the internet at seven various public places of Kathmandu valley. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has provided the internet service available at these seven various public places.

The free internet facility is available at the Pashupatinath area, Balaju Park, Shankhapark, Swoyambhu, Bouddha and Hanumandhoka Durbar area. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) had an aggrement with World Link Commucation Pvt Ltd for the the service some three months ago.

According to the chief of the KMC's information technology division, the KMC has provided free internet facility to the places which are frequented much by people both Nepalese and foreigners. The higher internet capacity at Hanumandokha and Balaju park as these places have higher presence of visitors so internet capacity has to be incresed. According to KMC's information technology division, at all these places 10 MBPS capacity internet facility is provided at present.

KMC mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya has said free internet service would be provided at the seven public places in the initial phase and it would be expanded to other places as per the need. KMC has already started providing this facility at Ratna Park.
